History how Taco Tuesday got its name....If you know ... good! If you don't... well look no further.... The term "Taco Tuesday" has been used in advertisements since at least 1933, but the phrase's origins are disputed: 1972 Gregory's Restaurant and Bar in Somers Point, New Jersey claims to have coined the phrase on a Tuesday night and started serving tacos on that day. Greg Gregory, the owner, began Taco Tuesdays because it was the only day his family allowed him to add tacos to the menu. In 1979, Gregory's trademarked the term, and in 2023, they still held the patent in New Jersey. 1973 The term was first known to be used in an advertisement in the Rapid City Journal for a local business. 1978 David Olsen, the owner of a Taco John's in Minnesota, may have coined the term "Taco Twosday" to advertise a deal of 99 cents for two tacos on a slow day. The name was later changed to "Taco Tuesday" and trademarked by the chain in 1989.
I read it and never knew... I think this is pretty darn cool if you ask me.
Now back to finding a good taco dish for the day! ITS TACO TUESDAY YA"LL!!!!
